Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, during an interactive session with journalists at the 3rd Annual GYB Seminar for Nigeria’s Political & Crime Correspondents/Editors in Abuja on Saturday, made it clear that his current ambition revolves around supporting President Bola Tinubu. He expressed his commitment to this objective, emphasizing that his primary focus is to aid President Tinubu in achieving success.


Reflecting on his current achievements as the Governor of Kogi, Governor Bello shared his satisfaction with the progress he has made in the state. He acknowledged the positive foundation he has laid for Kogi's future and expressed confidence that the APC candidate, Usman Ododo, will continue to build upon this strong groundwork.

He also asserted that the upcoming Kogi governorship election, scheduled for November, is expected to result in a resounding victory for the APC.

When asked about maintaining unity within the APC in Kogi State, Governor Bello emphasized the party's cohesion and its ability to resolve internal issues through established mechanisms.

In a paper titled "Unity in Multi-Ethnic, Multi-Religious Society, the Kogi Story," the state's Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, stressed the importance of prioritizing merit over ethnicity for the state's growth.

Furthermore, the President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Mr. Chris Isiguzo, highlighted the significance of responsible and ethical journalism, especially during off-season elections, as journalists play a vital role as society's watchdogs.

In another presentation titled "Debt Burden, Transparency and Accountability in Governance: Kogi’s Success Story," the Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning, Asiru Idris, outlined the deliberate policies implemented by the Yahaya Bello administration to promote good governance through accountability, transparency, and debt reduction.

The Kogi Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mr. Wemi Jones, discussed the state's commitment to education, including making it compulsory and increasing budgetary allocations to the sector, surpassing UNESCO's recommended benchmark.
